Pierre Berton

One of my favorite personalities was the Canadian author and historian

Pierre Berton.

Watch Pierre here, as he talks about how Hollywood presented a distorted view of Canada to the world. This is an interview with Mary Lou Finlay, originally broadcast on the CBC show “Take 30” on October 6, 1975.

Ian Coristine Pilot – Photographer – Publisher

Ian’s magnificent aerial photographs of the Thousand Islands are becoming world famous. He has created 3 notable books of pictures that he has taken in numerous flyovers and aerial visits up and down the river from his home on Raleigh Island. The many photographs in his exceptionally produced books are often one of a kind.

His third book is

A visit to his beautiful web site will allow you to see examples of his work and career.

There is even a radio interview with Ian that was broadcast on North Country Public Radio with Todd Moe who visited him on Raleigh Island.

Countryman’s Estate Winery, Gardens and Cupboard Store

is becoming a local institution in our area. It is certainly worth a visit.

Countryman’s was one of the first fruit wineries in Eastern Ontario. The winery complements the existing market garden operation, which sells strawberries, raspberries, tomatoes, sweet corn, and other fruits and vegetables grown on the farm.
